Farmers dumped huge piles of tomatoes on National Highway 33 near Ranchi to protest plummeting prices, which had fallen to just ₹1–₹2 per kilogram. The road was carpeted in red as traffic came to a standstill, symbolizing the farmers’ anger at losing money on their harvest. Farmers accused traders of exploiting the gap between farm-gate and market prices and demanded state intervention for fair rates.
