Dump cabbage
|
July 2017
In the Sainj Valley of Kullu, cabbage farmers, unable to sell their produce at a price that covered costs, dumped large quantities of cabbages on roads and in fields. Fetching a price of just ₹1–3 per kg when labour and transport alone cost more, cabbages were uprooted from fields and dumped in rotten heaps across the valley. Farmers were forced to abandon thousands of kilograms of crop rather than bear further loss
