In Suprada village of Mandsaur district, garlic farmers covered their harvested crop with white shrouds and placed flowers on it to protest the drastic fall in garlic prices. They pointed out that although Mandsaur had been designated under the “one district, one product” scheme for garlic, they were still forced to sell below cost. The farmers said they had spent thousands of rupees per quintal on cultivation but were receiving meagre returns, and demanded immediate government action to ensure fair prices for their produce.
