Farmers in Lucknow loaded sacks of potatoes into a truck and hurled the tubers at multiple prominent city locations, including near the Vidhan Sabha and Raj Bhawan, to protest rock-bottom sale prices for their crop. Low rates for potatoes, as little as ₹4 per kg against production costs of about ₹10 per kg were reported as the trigger for the protest.
