Chilli farmers dumped piles of green chillies on the road to protest against prices that had crashed to just ₹4–5 per kilogram. They said they had spent nearly ₹1 lakh per acre on cultivation but were unable to recover even basic costs. With no buyers or cold storage facilities, hundreds of quintals of chillies lay unsold. Farmers warned that without government intervention, many would abandon vegetable farming altogether, as repeated losses and lack of market infrastructure made their livelihoods unsustainable.
