Residents and activists circled an old neem tree along Aundh Road late at night to protest its felling by municipal departments. Calling the late-night demnonstration a 'Jagte Raho Andolan' (stay alert/awake demonstration), they alleged a disregard for city tree‐protection laws by the civic authorities, turning the site of the cut tree trunk into a focal point of ecological dissent. They urged the Pune Municipal corporation to implement provisions stated in the Tree (Protection and Preservation) Act.
