Farmers dumped sacks of ivy gourd outside the collectorate to protest rock-bottom prices and government inaction on market reforms. They said they had spent nearly ₹3 lakh per acre on cultivation but were forced to sell their produce at just ₹1 per kilogram. Gathering in large numbers, the growers blocked roads and staged a sit-in demanding fair pricing, curbs on middlemen, and implementation of the Swaminathan Committee’s recommendations to secure a minimum support price for their crop.
