Farmers dumped tonnes of onions and tomatoes along highways near Nashik as wholesale prices collapsed and supply overwhelmed demand. Despite these vegetables being sold at only ₹2-3 per kilogram wholesale, retail prices remained much higher, highlighting the disparity. The farmers demanded government compensation and better procurement mechanisms.
