Plant tulips in potholes

Kolomyia, Ukraine

April 2013

Activists in Kolomyia, Ukraine planted tulips in potholes as a creative protest against poor road conditions, placing the flowers directly in the damaged surfaces to draw visual attention to neglected infrastructure. The action followed a planned demonstration by local youth groups and included a warning that trees would be planted instead if demands remained unmet. By transforming potholes into makeshift flowerbeds, the protesters used a symbolic, non-violent gesture to demand attention and response from local authorities.
