On 9 November 2019, over 200 demonstrators gathered at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument in Arizona to protest the construction of a new 30-foot-tall border wall, carrying signs through the monument’s cactus-rich landscape. The group—comprised of environmental, Indigenous and humanitarian activists—walked from the visitor centre to the wall site, drawing attention to the threat posed to sacred lands, endangered species and desert ecosystems. They highlighted the immense water use required for wall construction and the impact on traditional territories and public lands.
