Hundreds of people across Myanmar laid flowers in public spaces as part of a “flower strike” held on Friday to remember those killed during the protests against the February 1 military takeover. Organisers had called for floral tributes to be placed at locations such as parks and bus stops in memory of “heroes who can’t come home.” One protester shared an image of red roses at a bus stop and a message: “Fallen, but not forgotten. Rest in power to all our sisters and brothers.” Words spelled out in flowers read “Myanmar is bleeding.” The strike came amid reports that more than 543 people had been killed by security forces since the coup, including more than 40 children, according to advocacy groups.
