March 2021

Thousands of people gathered in Bristol on 21 March 2021 to protest the proposed Police, Crime, Sentencing and Courts Bill, which critics argued would grant police expanded powers to restrict protests.
While the demonstration began peacefully at College Green, a sit-in outside Avon and Somerset Police’s Bridewell station escalated into violent clashes: police vehicles were set alight, windows smashed, and mounted police and dogs deployed.
Amid this tension, some protesters carried the action of placing daffodils on police officers’ lapels as a symbolic gesture of peace and resistance.
