Paint and write on leaves

Ye in Mon, Myanmar

April 2021

Protesters in Myanmar painted and wrote messages on leaves during the 2021 anti-coup movement, using the natural surfaces to display short slogans and calls for resistance. The inscribed leaves were placed in public spaces as subtle but visible markers of dissent, turning ordinary organic materials into small carriers of political expression while nationwide demonstrations against military rule continued.
