After the television series Jericho was cancelled, its devoted fans launched an unusually large-scale protest by posting 20 tons of peanuts to CBS, referencing a line from the show’s finale. Viewers around the world coordinated the mass shipping of sacks of nuts to pressure the network to reconsider its decision. The "Nuts for Jericho" campaign was a successful, fan-organized protest against the show's cancellation. The campaign grew so large and public that CBS eventually renewed the show for another season, demonstrating how a food-based protest—humorous, excessive, and highly visible—became an unexpectedly effective tool of fan mobilisation.
